Olatokunboh Obasi

Medical Herbalist, Nutritionist, Birth Doula, Yoga & Dance Teacher

Olatokunboh Obasi, owner of Omaroti, an apothecary and wellness space located in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, has been working in the wellness field for over 15 years. She's a yoga and dance instructor, clinical herbalist, nutritionist, and birth doula. Committed to community holistic health, social justice, and education, she works heavily in community service and African traditional medicine.

Presently, Ola coordinates Herbalists Without Borders International on the island. She believes that health and wellness are the keys to inspiring and uplifting collective community consciousness. The more conscious we are about our wellness, the more content we are in our lives — and in the interactions we have with each other. Ola enjoys teaching and lecturing, and is open to invitations. A guest presenter and teacher at many conferences across the nation, she contributes to the early phases of the movement in honoring the herbal traditions for People of Color — reminding the Western world that colonization and oppression, supremacy, and economic greed have disfranchised herbal practices, community structure, and the general health of all people of Indigenous heritage.

Originally from Africa, her travels around the world have been extensive, and she's integrated traditional knowledge of herbs with her Western education. She received her master's of science degree from Maryland University of Integrative Health. Ola is a mother of 3 teens. She continues to learn from her children through challenge and tribulation, as she shares her journey of life with them and the global human family.
