Sustainable Cordyceps Harvesting in Bhutan

Government (forestry department and local administration) strictly monitor collectors and the area of cordyceps grown. Forest rangers provide briefing and training every season before harvest season starts. For instance, rules necessitate a proper method of collection. It requires that the soil is replaced after the collection so that the collectors ensure there is minimum damage to the surrounding area.

Yartsa Goen Bub (Wild Cordyceps), we are exporter of wild cordyceps sinensis.

Karma Tshetem works with Bhutan Yartsa Goenbub (Cordyceps Sinesis) organization was formed by a group of local Yak Herders or farmers. This organisation comprises mainly of a group of 25 villagers (Yak Herders) from 5 different valleys namely Soi and Lingshi (Thimphu), Laya and Lunana (Gasa) and Dur (Bumthang). 

Farmers have been supplying to local exporters and indigenious hospitals in Thimphu. With our help now farmers are able to supply in international Market with better price. 

 Our main aim of this organisation is to use the profit from the sale of cordyceps to assist in community development by building bridges and roads.  It also aims to sell at reasonable price and also to ensure that the quality of the cordyceps is maintained at the highest standard.
