Herbalist and Homebirth Midwife

Virginia Ahearn’s interest in natural health began as a teenager. She met her first herbal teacher, David Winston while attending undergraduate school at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She attended his two year clinical training program in the early 90s. Her love affair with herbs began. She also studied with 7Song, Patricia Kyritsi Howell, and Chris Marano.

She has been teaching classes since 1992, and has worked in clinically with herbs since the late 90s. She is also a Home Birth Midwife and Post Partum Doula. She attended Maternidad La Luz Midwifery school in El Paso Texas in 2000, attending 120 births during her training there. She holds a New Jersey  license as a Certified Professional Midwife, and worked and assisted in several home birth practices while living there. She also learned from two midwives who serve The Amish Community, in Lancaster County Pa. She has had two short but busy visits there, assisting in the clinic and attending births.

She is also an anti-nuclear/peace activist, and in 2007 was named one of the 100 Most Important Women Peacemakers in the USA, by the national organization, Peace Action.

She currently lives in Northampton Massachusetts, where she teaches herb classes, works with clients and plans to build a home birth practice.
