By Stephen Dinan, founder and CEO of The Shift Network
Tomorrow we begin the Healthy Money Summit with more than 32 top pioneers as part of our Autumn of Abundance and our commitment to addressing how we make the shift to a new era.
Money is a fascinating arena, especially for people on a spiritual path. Our religious and spiritual traditions have tended to have strong anti-money biases, which often leads spiritual folks to have less of it and wrestle with money issues, compromising our power in the world.
Gordon Davidson and Corinne McLaughlin offered us a powerful antidote teleseminar last week, a fascinating article below, and will also offer an upcoming Spiritual Mastery of Money course that show us how to transform this issue on a root level. Summit co-host and financial therapist Bari Tessler shares an article below on facing money taboos and even going "full frontal" with our money stories - quite powerful.
What we are moving towards is the creation of a truly sacred relationship with money and its flow, which leads us to generous, collaborative and sustainable systems. There are exciting movements afoot, several of which are covered in this issue of the Catalyst or this week during the Summit, ranging from Vicki Robin's video on "relational eating" to the powerful insights into the commons by James Quilligan, an advisor to heads of state around the world, to Susan Davis' powerful KINS innovation in philanthropy and social movement building, chronicled below.
From local currencies to conscious investment funds, from financial therapy to micro-finance and sharing, it's clear that we are now FINALLY bringing spirit and matter together to create a sacred, sustainable, and healthy relationship with this very odd thing we call money. If you're at all intrigued to heal the spirit-money split in you, read on (and join the Healthy Money Summit).

Transition to a Sustainable World
By James B. Quilligan
Many people recognize that the transition to a sustainable world means turning the economy into an ecosystem. But the way of making this adjustment is entirely unclear. A shift to what? And how?
Governments, scientists, think tanks, academic communities, sustainable businesses, eco-villages, transition towns, new economics, degrowth groups and sharing and gift circles are deeply fragmented in their understanding of social and economic change. Most analysts and activists have not gotten beyond the idea of pricing natural resources to create a new balance between society and nature in the 21st century . . . [read more]
Money, Taboo, and Finding Your Voice: 7 Questions to Befriend Your Money Story
By Bari Tessler Linden
For those of us interested in deepening awareness and alignment in our lives, money can feel like the final frontier of conscious practice.
We can breathe through discomfort in most any situation—from the yoga mat to intimate conversations—but money remains a nagging exception. An ongoing source of confusion, fear, and shame. That one area of our lives where, try as we might, we just can't seem to feel authentic and empowered . . . [read more]
Growing Your Money and Changing the World

Are your personal finances creating a better life for you and our world or are they a source of stress? Would you like to grow your money and expand your income so you can contribute to the world in a positive way?

Philanthropists Manifesting Their Life Missions
By Susan Davis, founder, KINSinnovation.org
Over the last 35 years, I have worked with enlightened business leaders, philanthropists and financiers to create a breakthrough innovation method. It has proved dramatically quicker, less expensive, higher impact and more fun than other methods, but it has not spread. One reason is that the leaders have been servant leaders who sought to lead without taking credit. Secondly, the method uses an approach for manifesting that is the opposite of the traditional business approach, so it was too counter-cultural to be noticed. Let me explain . . . [read more]
What Makes a Movie Spiritual?
By Arjuna Ardagh (An edited version appeared in the Huffington Post)
This article supports the launch of Milton's Secret with a cool Indiegogo campaign that you can participate in here.
I was talking the other day with Barnet Bain, the producer of the Oscar winning movie What Dreams may Come, starring Robin Williams. Barnet is working on a new movie now, which I will tell you all about a little later.
Most of you care deeply about the world. Perhaps you have a sense of our evolutionary potential, or the needless suffering in our world that could be so easily overcome by a collective shift in how we experience reality? What is the best way to bring about such a shift? Religion? Better elected leaders? Social and political action? Or simply great movies? . . . [read more]

Amy Paulson—Co-Founder of the Gracias Foundation
By Devaa Haley Mitchell
PING…PING. PING. PING. I hear the rain falling quite hard on the tin roof above my head. My clothes are sticky and wet from walking through the rain, and my silver flats are caked with mud. I'd normally be a bit disgruntled about being a muddy mess, but my own spirits are lifted by the high energy of so many kids buzzing around me. Their beautiful black faces are glowing, and I am filled with a mother's pride-even though these kids are not my own.
The kids are all orphans with HIV, and reside at an orphanage called AHOPE Ethiopia. Most have lost their parents to the disease as well. It's a very tough situation, and the kids don't have much of a creative outlet—until now . . . [read more]
