Why Sharing News About Solutions is a Revolutionary Act
By Francis Moore Lappé
Hope isn't blind optimism. It's a sense of possibility—delight in the new and joy in creativity that characterizes our species. So let's break the good-news ban and become storytellers about real breakthroughs . . . After all, it's only in changing the small stories that we change the big, dangerous story—the myth of our own powerlessness . . . [read more]

Visitors From Outer Space, Real or Not, Are Focus of Discussion in Washington
By Andrew Sidon in the New York Times, May 3, 2013
While President Obama was promoting an immigration overhaul in Mexico, six former members of Congress gathered two blocks from the White House to consider what they see as the enforced government secrecy surrounding another kind of visitor: the kind who come from a lot farther away . . . Harvard Study Confirms Fluoride Reduces Children's IQ
A recently-published Harvard University meta-analysis funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has concluded that children who live in areas with highly fluoridated water have "significantly lower" IQ scores than those who live in low fluoride areas. In a 32-page report, the researchers concluded . . . [read more]
Toxic Chemicals Found in Thousands of Children's Products
Thousands of name brand children's products contain toxic chemicals linked to cancer, hormone disruption, and reproductive problems, according to an analysis released last week by the Washington Toxics Coalition. The study, called Chemicals Revealed, identified over 5000 children's products such as clothing, car seats and personal care products that include developmental or reproductive toxins and carcinogens.

Paradigm-Busting Is Busting Out All Over
By Byron Belitsos, Managing Editor
In this issue of the Catalyst coming to you on Mother's Day, we point to new instances of paradigm-busting and to children's health issues—thereby hoping to make all mothers proud of us. Most notably as far as paradigm-shattering is Rupert Sheldrake's radical reconceptualization of science, as well as the recent coverage in the New York Times of UFO disclosure; allow me to add to this list a new book on politics by distinguished historian and economist Gar Alperovitz. I agree with Daniel Ellsberg that this work offers "by far the most serious, intellectually grounded strategy for system-changing yet to appear." Like many other periodicals, Catalyst has covered the growing movement toward worker ownership and various forms of cooperatives, but the one person who has put this all together is Alperovitz. Have a look at this hope-filled book, as well as Shift's own masterwork on the next paradigm by Anodea Judith (see just below).

The cultural transformation from the love of power to the power of love is the drama of our time. Ours is an era that future historians will look back upon, marveling at the magnitude of the challenges and changes we are now experiencing. They will call it a time of Great Awakening, a time when the best and the worst of humanity played their parts in the fate of human evolution . . . [read more]
Green Power for All

My Evolutionary Road Trip
By Noel Marshall
The Divine Feminine energy brings to my mind the archetype of the Mother Mary: Gentle, loving, encouraging, flowing, peaceful, as well as showing might for right, when needed. As with the archetype of Mother Nature, there is a time for blooming and a time for pruning for beauty, and a time for strength and character to come forth. But those are not any of the words that I would use to describe myself prior to my transformation . . . [read more]

Get connected to the earth. One of the best ways to do that is to choose plant-based diet, coming from farms that are local or better yet, from your own garden or a local community garden. Our diet is the single largest personal contributor to climate change, and the one that everyone has full control over.
