How to Clear the Energy From Others to Make Room for Your Divine Self

By Wendy De Rosa

Have you felt energetically overloaded lately? Or maybe you continuously sense and feel the thoughts, emotions, and even physical pain of others. If this sounds like you, know that you are not alone. As sensitive people, we feel and often pick up the energy around us.

Like most sensitives, you’ve probably learned how the constant push and pull of others’ energy can be overwhelming and exhausting. The good news is, being an empath is a gift, and consciousness is rising on the planet in a way that’s triggering your true self to come out from hiding and to emerge.

Spirit is calling us to go deeper into the fold of our being, deeper into the consciousness of not just who we are, but also to unleash our power within that this planet needs. We are being asked to purify our cellular body, have strength and empathy around emotions, and touch the cells within others so, as a collective, we can inspire goodness on earth.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to have a greater connection to your divine self? When you open up and connect with your divine self, you prioritize what is truly important and walk away from any distractions that are keeping you trapped in a lower vibration. You’ll be able to recognize the energy forms restricting and limiting you. This awareness will, in return, help you move closer to living a life with more clarity and truth.

Becoming aware of how to use your empathic gifts is crucial to manifesting and transforming into your most powerful self. This process is possible by gaining a deeper understanding of your intuition, the energetic body, and the power you have as an empath. A connection with your divine self can be created and maintained by setting boundaries and protecting your light.

If you want to be an empowered empath, the best thing you can do is set boundaries for yourself to protect your energy. This is an act of love and should be practiced in all of your relationships. It is a gift you give yourself to protect you from unwanted energy.

Clearing the Energy of Others

It’s important not only to clear out the energy of others, but also to go deeper by clearing out the baggage of your past that’s created blocks restricting you from actualizing your gifts. By ridding yourself of excess energy that’s stalling your growth and progress, you can hone your gift and allow your divine self to be seen.

What does it feel like when you take on the energy of others? Generally, you’ll feel uncentered, with symptoms of fatigue, overwhelm, anxiety, low energy, frustration, and more. The best way to overcome the energy you’ve taken on is by clearing and releasing.

One technique I recommend that my clients start with is having awareness of your breath and the intention to let go. When you direct your breath and your awareness to an area of your body or an image you are sensing or feeling, you can start to shift the energy and release it. In energy work, letting go means letting the energy release from your body and go down your grounding cord. Sometimes in the upper body, it doesn't want to go down. It wants to go up and out. Don’t worry, this happens. The concept here is that you're bringing breath and awareness to an area of your body and inviting the energy to release.

The releasing process can take a little longer than the actual healing. Let's say you’re in a guided meditation, and you’re being guided to breathe into clearing shame in the body. Let's say you identify a deep memory or a deep feeling in an area and you feel the energy of that shame release, but then an hour later, a day later, you start to feel this shame swelling to the surface. If this happens, know that sometimes healing work progresses in stages. The first part occurs in the present moment with the healing, and then sometimes it needs a release process where the energy needs to move through the cells of the body continuously.

Becoming one with your intuition involves listening to your body and paying attention to your thoughts and emotions. A big part of this process is learning to release trapped emotions so you can move into a space of clarity and peace. A good practice is to start taking note of what’s happening around you, and particularly what’s happening within your body. When you get in the habit of labeling your feelings, it is easier to navigate your journey as an empath. There is so much power in expressing how you feel without judgment and then releasing it!

When doing energy work, especially when working to clear out the energy of others, it’s also important to look at the wounds you’re holding onto and carrying around — they are likely holding you back from being balanced and in power. Keep in mind that when you’re in balance as an empathic intuitive, the ideal situation is for you to radiate your power and light out. This is done by healing wounds in a way that allows you to occupy the fullness of your space and your center.
