Energenetics and the Music of Our DNA

The primary way most of us consider DNA is seeing it as a fixed, chemical expression that is slow to change. However, my work as a researcher of therapeutic sound has shown me that the stream of DNA that flows as an unbroken chain through time is much more like flowing music and vibrating strings — actually quite fluid, ever-changing, and responsive to the inputs of targeted sound therapy.
I have spent the last 23 years bouncing single tones of sound (generated by simple tuning forks) off of people and listening to the “pingback." Through many thousands of hours of this practice (Biofield Tuning), I have observed and mapped an anatomy and physiology of the human biofield — the field of electromagnetic energy that surrounds and interpenetrates the human body.
Through this process, I’ve observed two structures in the biofield I call the “ancestral rivers,” which flow along either sides of our bodies about 10 inches or so away from either shoulder. These are thin rivers of current, about two inches wide, that seem to contain the information of the two DNA streams that compose us. Information appears to flow from upstream, which comes down from above the head from our ancestors, and then downstream past our feet to our descendents.
The ancestral information from our father’s side runs along the right side of our bodies, and the information from our mother’s side runs along the left side of our bodies. When I “stick a fork” in these zones and listen to the sound that is produced, I am able to discern the “tone of the song of our DNA” and the sorts of emotional proclivities we have inherited from our parents and their parents and so on.
Our DNA doesn’t just provide us with hair color and eye color and other physical attributes — it also informs us mentally and emotionally. I call this influence our Energenetics — the energy patterns that also inform who we are.
Many years of this practice has shown me that every emotion we feel has a specific frequency signature that one can learn to discern in the overtones and undertones of the tuning fork as it interacts with the subtle vibrations emanating from the body. Fear has a pulsing quality, depression has a strong undertone, and sadness sounds like sad music.
I once worked with a woman who was struggling with anxiety and depression. Despite many years of therapy and lots of different approaches, she still found herself bouncing back and forth between these two uncomfortable states. When I listened in to her ancestral rivers, I could hear the very distinct undertone of depression on her father’s side, and the very distinct pulsing of anxiety on her mother’s side.
She concurred that yes, her father did have depression, and yes, her mother was a very anxious person. When I explained to her that she had inherited these tonal tendencies, and that there really wasn’t anything wrong with her, per se, she experienced the same sort of relief that everyone does when they learn about energenetic inheritances — and most importantly, the release of the guilt over her failure to fix “her” problems.
The beauty and the simplicity of sound therapy approached in this way, is that simply by holding a tuning fork in this flowing stream, the body does an amazing thing: it uses the coherent input of sound to hear itself, and tune itself back to what I call our “factory settings." Rather than fixed chemistry, our DNA is more like a flowing song, a musical composition that has been added to throughout the generations from the emotional experiences of those who came before us.
Restoring these factory settings is like taking the noise out of a signal, or like adjusting the antennas on an old TV to make the picture come in more clearly. Once these distortions of static and noise have been resolved, we have better access to the coherent influences of those that came before us, rather than just being stuck with the sh*t that has flowed downstream for us to deal with.
After just a few sessions, my client reported a dramatic shift in her emotional experience as the discomfort produced by having these distortions in her inner composition resolved back into harmony. I’ve seen this process repeated countless times in both my practice and my classes — and one of the things that has struck me about this practice and process is how many times people have come into my office saying, “I am here to clean up my ancestral lineage."
We are fortunate at this time to have many different approaches to do ancestral healing — sound therapy is just one of them. We also have had many studies come out over the last few years that show evidence of how ancestral trauma influences offspring in multiple species, not just humans.
Part of the reason, I think, for so many of us feeling like it’s our job to heal our lineage, relates to the “turning of the ages." In Vedic Cosmology, a 26,000-year cycle is observed as our sun journeys around the great central sun.
In the age furthest from the central sun, man descends into the heavy, dark energies of the Kali Yuga, but then begins the journey back to the more enlightened zones supported by our position in the universe — out of the iron age and into the bronze, silver, and then golden age when we reach the area closest to the illumination of the central sun.
As they passed through the dark zone in this journey, our ancestors accumulated heavy energy from the difficulties of their paths. In order for us to move along the ascending path from darkness back to light, the karma of these influences and patterning needs to be cleared to make way for the restoration of a human template that resonates with the greater clarity and illumination that humanity is headed toward on this journey.
I believe that a great many of us have incarnated at this time to do just that — we are alchemists, here to transmute the lead of the heavy experiences of our ancestors into the gold that our children’s children will embody.
