Have you tried meditation, mindfulness, or other practices — yet found them too difficult to sit through, or noticed that your mind simply keeps ruminating?
For many, the challenge with meditation isn’t a lack of discipline or focus — it’s that their nervous system has never been taught how to settle into stillness. When the body remains in patterns of stress, the mind naturally follows.
Roshi Fleet Maull, PhD, founder of the HeartMind Institute, shares that your nervous system is designed to learn, regulate, and heal — and that when you train it properly, calm, sustained awareness, presence, and regulation can become a natural state rather than something you struggle to achieve.
Join Dr. Maull for a powerful 7-week journey, where you’ll discover Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness™, a neuroscience-informed approach to meditation that trains your brain through deep embodied awareness techniques.
Instead of trying to force the mind to be quiet, NSM works directly with the body and the brain’s attention networks, helping shift activity away from the rumination-driven Default Mode Network and into neural systems that support focused presence, emotional regulation, and natural healing.
Dr. Maull is a meditation teacher and mindfulness pioneer who has spent more than 50 years exploring the art and science of contemplative practice. A Roshi in the Zen tradition and a senior teacher in the Tibetan lineage, he has trained thousands of people — including mindfulness teachers, first responders, and incarcerated individuals — in practical methods for cultivating embodied awareness and emotional resilience.
He developed Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness as a way to help people stabilize attention far more quickly than traditional meditation approaches.
At the heart of his method is a simple but profound shift: coming home to the body.
Modern culture often pulls us into living almost entirely in our heads, treating the body as little more than a vehicle for the brain. Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness gently reverses this pattern by guiding you back into direct sensory experience of the body.
Through simple, progressive practices, you’ll learn how to tune your nervous system much like a musician tuning an instrument, allowing focused presence and sustained awareness to arise more naturally. As mental noise and nervous system reactivity begin to settle, deeper states of flow, resilience, and self-regulation can emerge. Beneath it all, you may begin sensing a deeper level of being — a place of innate wholeness and natural ease.
You can use these micro-practices throughout the day to settle stress in real time, expand your window of tolerance, and return to a responsive, grounded state even in challenging situations.
As you deepen your capacity for embodied awareness, meditation begins to shift from something you practice into something you inhabit — a state of natural presence that supports resilience, connection, and a renewed sense of being fully alive in the world.
Are you ready to retrain your nervous system, rediscover the intelligence of your body, and experience the quiet strength of embodied presence in your life?

In this 7-week transformational course, Dr. Maull will guide you through the skills and competencies you’ll need to learn how to train your attention through embodied mindfulness practices so your nervous system can regulate more easily and your mind can settle into calm, stable awareness.
You’ll connect with Dr. Maull and experience his teachings through livestreaming video via any connected device. This connection is easy to use and will enhance the impact of Dr. Maull’s transmissions. Can’t make it live? After each class, you can stream the video and audio recordings to enjoy anytime and anywhere at your convenience.
This course will feature LIVE teachings, interactive sessions, experiential practices, and Q&A with Dr. Maull. Each session will build harmoniously upon the previous ones, so you’ll develop a complete holistic understanding of the practices, tools, and principles you’ll need to use Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness to help you stabilize attention far more quickly than traditional meditation approaches.

Dr. Maull will introduce Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness— his neuroscience-informed approach to meditation that integrates decades of contemplative practice with insights from modern brain science.
You’ll begin exploring how your attention networks shape your inner experience, and how consciously directing attention can quiet rumination and bring you fully into the present moment.
Through guided exercises, Dr. Maull will help you experience meditation as an embodied process that works with the nervous system rather than struggling against the mind.
This foundational introduction establishes the skills you’ll continue developing throughout the course as you learn how to regulate attention, settle your nervous system, and experience meditation as a natural, embodied state of being.
In this session, you’ll:

Dr. Maull will guide you into interoceptive awareness — the ability to sense the internal landscape of your body from the inside out.
You’ll explore the understanding that the entire body is sensory, including muscles, tissues, and even the skeletal structure itself, which is richly connected to the nervous system.
Through a powerful somatic exercise, Dr. Maull will help you sense the weight, mass, and gravitational grounding of your body’s skeletal structure. This practice stabilizes attention while cultivating a deeper sense of embodiment and presence.
By learning how to rest awareness within the physical body itself, you’ll begin strengthening the internal biofeedback loop that supports profound nervous system regulation and sustained states of awareness.
In this session, you’ll:

Dr. Maull will lead you deeper into interoceptive awareness by exploring the sensory intelligence of your musculature.
Building on the skeletal grounding developed in the previous module, you’ll begin sensing the subtle aliveness present in the muscles, including the constant underlying tone, or tonus, that supports posture, movement, and regulation in the body.
Dr. Maull will explain how developing awareness of the muscular system strengthens your capacity for self-regulation, emotional balance, and physiological stability.
You’ll learn how to notice patterns of tension and release while cultivating a benevolent, non-judgmental awareness of your internal experience.
As your sensitivity deepens, the body becomes a powerful ally in calming the nervous system and stabilizing your meditation practice.
In this session, you’ll:

As interoceptive awareness continues to deepen, attention moves beyond muscles and bones into the living landscape of the body’s internal organs.
With Dr. Maull, you’ll explore the sensory intelligence of the viscera — including the lungs, diaphragm, digestive system, and the complex neural ecosystem of the gut.
With nearly one hundred million neurons, the gut’s internal nervous system plays an important role in emotional balance, physiological regulation, and overall wellbeing.
Breath becomes a central doorway into this internal terrain. As awareness refines, the breath can naturally activate the body’s relaxation response, helping restore balance and bring the nervous system back toward homeostasis.
As sensitivity develops, the internal body reveals itself as a dynamic field of sensation and energy. This growing awareness allows meditation to become more deeply anchored, creating a profound sense of grounding and stability that supports sustained presence.
In this session, you’ll:

You’ll learn about Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness practices that help optimize the functional connectivity between the large-scale brain networks — particularly the Default Mode Network, Salience Network, and Frontoparietal Control Network — to stabilize attention and support emotional regulation, and relational awareness.
An unchecked Default Mode Network often drives rumination, worry, and mental fixation. Through embodied attention training, however, the brain can learn to shift more easily into networks that support focused presence and responsive awareness.
As these systems become more integrated and flexible, your capacity for self-regulation, emotional steadiness, and empathic connection naturally grows.
Dr. Maull will also introduce you to a focused-attention meditation as a powerful way to strengthen these neural pathways, cultivating a more effortless, non-striving relationship with meditation.
In this session, you’ll:

As Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness practices deepen, the nervous system gradually learns how to settle and stabilize on its own (auto-regulation) through the internal neuro-biofeedback loop developed in earlier modules.
Rather than constantly managing or controlling your inner state, the system begins reorganizing itself, forming new neural pathways that support greater ease, resilience, and emotional regulation.
As the body relaxes into deeper states of coherence and embodied awareness, trauma patterns naturally heal themselves.
Dr. Maull will demonstrate a guided practice to help you relax the sense of effort while resting in upright, grounded presence.
As the nervous system settles, you may begin to sense a natural flow of coherence through the body — a palpable experience of integration where mind, body, and nervous system begin working together more harmoniously.
In this session, you’ll:

You’ll peacefully experience the natural culmination of Neuro-Somatic Mindfulness practice as you rest in effortless awareness and the depth of pure presence.
As attention stabilizes through embodiment and nervous system regulation, meditation begins to shift from something you practice into a state you can simply inhabit.
Many contemplative traditions refer to this quality of awareness as samadhi — a state characterized by flow, coherence, and a profound sense of ease.
From this place, awareness can open into a deeper recognition of non-dual presence — an experience in which the usual sense of separation softens and a natural feeling of interconnectedness emerges.
Beneath the noise of mental activity, you may begin to recognize a fundamental sense of inner okayness, wholeness, and intrinsic wellbeing that is not dependent on external circumstances.
In this session, you’ll:
