I left Silicon Valley and the tech world for something more, much more

By Steve Farrell

In the 1990’s I lived and worked in Silicon Valley and ran a couple of tech companies I co-founded. My companies grew rapidly and I enjoyed many of the perks that go with this such as universities at sea, private jets to exclusive locations and more. But, I sold all my holdings in 2001, and moved to Boulder, Colorado with my family in 2007 because I found the American Dream to be false.

When working in the valley, I felt like I was in a Disneyland, a make-believe world, where doubling revenue and profit was what it was all about. This created stress for me, my family and my co-workers, and it was a never-ending quest for satisfaction because as soon as we attained a new higher level of revenue and profit, the cycle of growth would start all over again. I could have lived with this in a balanced, sustainable world where people and the planet were nurtured and healthful. But, as we know, this doesn’t describe the world we live in. Most parents I know don’t want to leave today’s world to their children. It felt like a child’s game to focus on growing financial wealth when there was more important work to do.

I yearned for spiritual health and a sense of unity with life, something purposeful, where I could contribute to creating a sustainable global society. I didn’t want any more make-believe. I wanted real intrinsic value, something my soul would call true. When Neale Donald Walsch asked if I’d help him launch Humanity’s Team in 2003, a global grassroots spiritual movement, I said yes and shortly thereafter agreed to lead Humanity’s Team.

Seven years later, in 2010, our Humanity’s Team Global Council traveled to the United Nations in New York City to request The United Nations create a Global Oneness Day. We brought a Oneness Declaration signed by over 52,000 people from over 150 countries. Ambassador Anwaral Chowdhury received us and encouraged Humanity’s Team to create Global Oneness Day because he said it would take too long for the United Nations.

We created Global Oneness Day in 2010 and with the assistance of Barbara Marx Hubbard, Neale Donald Walsch, Stephen Dinan with The Shift Network, Barbara Fields and The Association for Global New Thought, 2015 Co-Creators and many others, we elevated Global Oneness Day to what it is today, an “Earth Day” for an awakened humanity.

Why is this day important? It is a day to explore how we are separate from nothing. On this day, we see We Are All One with the Divine, each other and our Earth home and we model it. It is a day of at-ONE-ment. It is a day to talk about living in Oneness in practical ways, to revere and nurture life as the prime value. Global Oneness Day is a call to expanded consciousness, an invitation to conscious creation. This day calls us to serve life first, to pre-serve the Earth, nature, humanity and all of life’s diversity. In short, it is an impactful day that has enormous opportunity to change our lives and the world for the better.

This year, Humanity’s Team leaders volunteered thousands of hours to create Global Oneness Day and over 40 world leaders including Iyanla Vanzant, Desmond Tutu, Marianne Williamson, Michael Bernard Beckwith, Gary Zukav, Ken Wilber, Panache Desai, Nassim Haramein, Dean Radin, Doreen Virtue, Patricia Cota-Robles, Andrew Harvey, James O’Dea, Barnet Bain, Kenji Kumara, Jennifer McLean, Jonathan Goldman, Steve Bhaerman, Matt Kahn and others generously agreed to contribute their time to create a 12 hour program. We’re also going to be making an important Conscious Business announcement with partner organizations. You will not want to miss this year’s program!

Global Oneness Day is on a Saturday this year, October 24th, so you can easily listen-in for the full day or tune-in to programs that especially interest you. The program is complimentary and if you miss some of the program you can listen-in at no charge for 48 hours.

We encourage everyone to make Global Oneness Day their own by creating an event in their home or community with theOneness Declaration as a centerpiece. Friends can gather to read it, sign it and celebrate it, and you can listen to the Global Oneness Day telesummit together or host an event at a service project location, park or celebration area.

If you believe all of life is interconnected, that we are all One with the Divine and each other and you’d like to create a life enhancing, life supporting, life sustaining world, please join us. There is a shift, an awakening occurring but it is being accelerated or braked by our decision to participate or not. Let’s abandon false dreams and come together in Oneness to co-create the world we’ve always known was ours.

Join us on Global Oneness 2015 and we’ll get started together.

In Oneness,

Steve
