My Personal Transformation

When I was a young boy, my father was an evangelical minister. At age six, my parents divorced and he lost his position with the church. The split left my mother feeling unappreciated and my father in spiritual doubt. These circumstances set the stage for my own personal search for human connection that my mother felt she was lacking and spiritual truth, which still eluded my father. It took many years to become conscious of my quest and the many synchronicities which guided me along the way.

We all choose to be born into this spiritual journey. Awakening to that journey begins a process of metamorphosis. For me the awakening process began with writing poetry in high school. I wrote about the important life lessons I was learning on love, faith, and the human condition. After hearing the quote, “We are not human beings having spiritual experiences, we are spiritual beings having human experiences,” by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, I started to understand that I chose this life for a reason. I spent the next ten years working to discover that purpose.

A few years ago I saw the movie The Shift with Wayne Dyer. I was excited to hear confirmation of so many of my feelings about a global spiritual renaissance. He talked about a shift in human consciousness from fear and separation to love and unity. He offered hope for reaching a critical mass of awakened individuals that would spur a quantum leap in human evolution. I wanted to learn all I could about “the shift.” I found The Shift Network on line and felt an instant connection to others that were on the same path.

When I received the invitation from Barbara Marx Hubbard to join her first teleclass for ACE training, I was excited to have found the teachers I had been preparing to meet. Barbara and her sister Patricia Ellsberg created a sacred space for me and thousands of others to open our hearts to the universal impulse and to awaken to our own compass of joy.

My greatest transformation has been an internal shift of ego-based thinking to heart-based thinking. In the past I was disappointed when my action did not lead me to what I wanted to be. Now I understand I have two purposes; the inner purpose of “being” and the outer purpose of “doing.” Fully “being” in the now leads me to “inspired action,” which yields far greater rewards with less effort.

Since I graduated from ACE training I have published my first book, The Human Experience and left my secure sales career of twelve years. Now my wife Renee and I work together to help other heart based entrepreneurs share their message with a wider audience, while creating personal prosperity in their own lives.
