As Master Faye guides you through the middle dantian rotation and a deeper experience of “Pushing Arms Aloft” movements, you’ll create a massaging effect on the internal organs.

Using your video submissions, Master Faye will lead a review and deepening of the knowledge you gained during the first three classes.

You’ll have ample opportunity to ask Master Faye your questions directly during an extended Q&A.

She’ll focus on your questions and use participant video submissions to give detailed feedback on how to take your practice deeper.

During this first integration session, you’ll:

  • Review the key learnings from “Hold Up Heaven,” “Posing as an Archer,” and “Pushing Arms Aloft”
  • Refine your skills and understanding of Ba Duan Jin to apply to your practice

Module 5: Transform Negative Emotions Into Relaxation & Harmony and Prevent Sickness & Strain With the “Turn Gazing Backwards” Movement (April 16)

Experience how emotional energy is closely linked with the wellbeing of internal organs, using smooth, mind-calming movements coupled with controlled breathing.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), each of five organs heart, liver, spleen, lung, and kidney is associated with a specific emotion.

The heart is associated with joy and happiness.
The liver is associated with anger and frustration.
The spleen is associated with worry and overthinking.
The lung is associated with grief and sadness.
The kidney is associated with fear and insecurity.

This smooth movement helps put the internal organs at ease, while also helping to unblock emotional energy pathways and promote the smooth traveling of Qi.

Go deeper into visualizations that help you move beyond any perceived form of restriction.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Open the energy channel along the side of the body to improve the flexibility of the spine and release any built-up energy stagnation

Module 6: Heal the Heart Energy & Relieve Stress With the “Swaying the Head & Wagging the Tail” Movement (April 30)

The heart is the most yang (fire element) organ in your body.

It governs blood circulation, blood vessels, and the mind, houses the Shen/spirit, and is in charge of our happiness and joy.

“Swaying the Head & Wagging the Tail” uses circular movements around the sacrum and spine to balance the fire yang energy of the heart with the water yin energy of the kidneys.

Go deeper into visualizations that increase the flow of Qi and a felt sense of emotional stability by pushing beyond any perceived limitation.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Explore various methods of utilizing the tailbone to supercharge this movement
  • Activate the “engine of the body” to bring a deeper cultivation of energy
  • Engage the sacrum with a gentle circular movement to release unblocked energy around the kidney meridian and increase the flexibility of the spine
  • Expand the circular movement around the sacrum to the torso, engaging with the yang energy pathways along the spine to improve the flexibility of the whole spine and balance the water yin energy from the kidney and fire yang energy from the heart to promote good energy flow to the whole body

Module 7: Boost Your Vitality by Strengthening Your Kidney Energy With the “Both Hands Touching the Feet” Movement (May 7)

Kidney energy is the powerhouse of your body, regarded as your most important reservoir of essential energy.

The original prenatal energy yuan Qi, which forms the basis of life is stored in the kidney organ energy system.

This is why the kidneys are also known as “the root of life.”

The “Both Hands Touching the Feet” movement can help you tonify your kidney energy and amplify your kidneys’ innate function of revitalizing your energy, resulting in a deeper sense of vibrancy, balance, and resilience.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Deepen the flow of the “Both Hands Touching the Feet” movement
  • Learn how to effectively connect with the earth energy, the grounding energy
  • Improve the flexibility of the external body and develop key internal connections
  • Work with the yin and yang energy pathways in the legs and feet and improve mental clarity and awareness
  • Experience the deep opening of these meridians and stimulate key acupuncture points that can improve flexibility in the tendons and ligaments
  • Smooth out any blockages in the kidney meridian
  • Strengthen muscle tone and replenish the vital energy in the kidney meridian through smooth and controlled bending and stretching movements

Module 9: Boost Your Vitality and Immunity by Nourishing Liver Qi With the Clenching Fists & Glaring Eyes Movement (May 21)

The “Clenching Fists and Glaring Eyes” movement is a great way to increase vitality and energy levels in the body quickly and effectively.

It also helps improve circulation, decrease stress hormones, regulate mental and emotional states, and improve coordination and balance.

Master Faye will share how practicing this movement regularly can help you build up your Qi.

This not only increases vitality, but also helps improve the immune system, reduce pain and inflammation, and optimize the natural healing power of the body to cope with the ever-increasing amount of stress and pollution you encounter daily.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Learn the deeper eye practice, which links the eye gaze to emotional energy, and how to let go of negative emotional energy
  • Tap into the energy changes that occur in different parts of the body during this movement
  • Further develop the Wo Gu, or “Healing Fist” movement
  • Continue to improve strength and flexibility in the fingers and hands by making the healing fist (Wo Gu) and stimulate acupuncture points in the fingers and hands to clear and nourish energy pathways

  • Tonify and replenish the liver meridian with vibrant energy by incorporating smooth and deep breathing into the movement
  • Maximize these benefits using the last treasure, and harvest the good Qi back to dantian the Qi center

Module 10: Strengthen Immunity & Prevent Sickness and Ailments With the “Raising and Lowering the Heels” Movement (May 28)

The “Raising and Lowering Heels” movement in Ba Duan Jin helps to stimulate blood flow and improve energy circulation throughout the body, working to prevent poor circulation, varicose veins, and blood clots.

Continuously lifting and lowering the heels helps strengthen the muscles in the legs, including the calves, quadriceps, and hamstrings. Strong leg muscles are essential for balance and stability, as well as for preventing falls and injuries.

Practicing the “Raising and Lowering Heels” movement in Ba Duan Jin can help improve balance and coordination, essential for maintaining mobility and preventing falls, especially as we age.

This movement requires the ankles to flex and extend, helping improve flexibility in the ankles and feet, overall mobility, and conditions such as plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis.

These rhythmic movements, combined with deep breathing, can help to calm the mind and release tension, which in turn can boost the immune system and help prevent sickness and ailments.

In this session, you’ll:

  • Learn an advanced adaptation for this move which instills a feeling of balance and calm
  • Explore how to integrate this movement into your daily life for more balance and more stimulation to the feet to keep your mind still and balance your emotions
  • Improve the grounding of the Qi with the Earth

About Faye Li Yip

Born in China to a traditional martial arts family, Master Faye Li Yip is a passionate practitioner, performer, and professional teacher of Tai Chi, Qigong, and Chinese martial arts, with over 40 years of training experience. Master Faye is a co-author of the popular books Wudang Tai Chi Sword and Tai Chi Kungfu Fan. After moving to the UK, she set up both the Deyin Taijiquan Institute and the British Health Qigong Association with the help and support of her husband Tary. She’s worked tirelessly to raise awareness of both physical and mental wellbeing through the arts of Tai Chi and Qigong.

Over 20,000 British and European students from all walks of life have benefited from her teaching. She has produced several instructional DVDs and online courses for all the forms she teaches, and has more than 15,000 subscribers on YouTube, in order to allow those who are unable to attend classes to experience their benefits.
