The impact of trauma can be experienced in a variety of different ways, much of it subtle and lacking obvious markers that you might relate to trauma. As a child in Cameroon, Africa, Dr. Marie Mbouni felt a call toward healing. Her journey began with Western medicine. After many grueling years in medical school, she became an anesthesiologist, hoping to bring peace and healing to others. Even though she built a career many would be proud of, she began to feel increasingly empty and unfulfilled. She had neglected her personal relationships as well as her spiritual health, and her mind and body paid for it.

Her quest for self-discovery led her to her true calling as a shaman, energy healer, and mentor to others who were seeking a similar path to enlightenment. Dr. Marie has been working with Iboga since she was a child — beginning with a serendipitous sequence of events that involved her own mother’s health. She’s now a facilitator of sacred ceremonies with plant medicines, a psychedelic integration coach, and a microdosing coach.

Throughout her years of helping traumatized people heal from the inner wounds of past experiences, she’s been able to identify many subtle signs of trauma, some of which go unnoticed by the sufferer.
