I hope you and your family have had a wonderful start to the New Year!
The New Year is an ideal time to reflect on the previous year and to set goals for the year ahead. This special event is an unparalleled health, healing, and wellness series offering leading-edge solutions to many of today's personal health objectives.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to residents of Puerto Rico, where Hurricane Maria made landfall September 20 and knocked out power to 3.4 million people. A Puerto Rican named Teresa, who was taking a Shift Network course from plant medicine expert David Crow at the time, wrote this to us:
“During this emergency crisis, hospitals and doctors’ offices were and are difficult to visit, so we have used essential oils and medicinal plants to keep healthy here at home. We have remembered David Crow's advice and are using frankincense, lavender, eucalyptus, and others to keep us from getting sick. Thank God we have not gotten sick. Therefore, a huge THANK YOU to David Crow for his advice. He is a very special and unique instructor, and I really love his lessons and topics.”
Thank you, Teresa, for your inspiring message. We are following the situation in Puerto Rico closely and hope that conditions improve daily.
Finally, we would love to hear your answer to the question, How do you plan to improve your health in 2018? To share your thoughts in our Facebook Page community, click here.

When a yogi and a hip-hop artist decide to join forces and help counteract the craziness that’s going in our world, wonderful things happen….like the new album, Inclusion Revolution: Together with Love. It’s an amazing example of a spiritual hip-hop meditation combination.
Sister Jenna is the founder of the Meditation Museum in Washington D.C. and host of a popular online syndicated radio show, America Meditating. She and hip-hop artist JoRob (Waldron) have come together to provide a soothing, soulful musical meditation experience.
In this 17-minute talk at Findhorn in Scotland, Stephanie shares her personal investigations and clinical research into how the brain networks experiences of spiritual guidance alongside her understanding of the neurophysiology of receiving and transmitting it. Clear guidance is differentiated from intuition or occasional psychic hunches. It is an integrated, holistic neuro-chemical phenomenon that forever transforms the individual who experiences it, recalibrating their nervous system.
Your thoughts are a powerful, creative force that set the course and tone of your life. We all think thousands of thoughts per day, the vast majority of which are repetitive. Over time, this relentless self-chatter—too often negative and self-limiting—forms the patterns of our thinking.
Affirmations help you tame the chaotic rumblings on the edge of your consciousness and replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones. Affirmations are an easy and effective way to reshape the way you look at the world. Train yourself to think more positive, loving thoughts and you will live a more positive, loving life.

Spiritual growth has numerous doorways. Surprising to most, anxiety is one such threshold. As an intuitive healer, I have worked with clients for nearly 20 on an array of issues ranging from physical symptoms to life path questions, from life transitions to the deeper desire to heal blocks and grow spiritually.
Yet, anxiety commonly presents in clients who feel a calling in their heart for spiritual growth. Here are 3 spiritual reasons for anxiety…
My early childhood was a test of my will to be. During some of the most challenging periods, such as when sexual abuse was occurring, I would have preferred not to continue to live. But that option, tempting as it was, was not one I could ever thoroughly embrace although I often came close. Through this crucible I learned to be self-sufficient. I could not count on the people around me to nurture my spirit so I had to find ways to do that independently, even as a small child.
I found my own creativity and a relationship with Spirit that evolved out of my inner quest to make sense of the senseless. I found joy and encouragement in the inner world I developed; it kept me alive.
Like serpentine waves of color undulating across the continents, the lilac hues of lavender farms weave together all that is good about us humans. For love of beauty, people flock to the cascading purple terraces of Provence, New Zealand, Himachal Pradesh, and California, drawn like the bees climbing through their miniature labyrinthine worlds of ultraviolet scent.
Because there still lives, somewhere in our heart and soul where the artificialities of modernity are not allowed, an innate indescribable love for nature’s tender expressions, the soft voice of lavender’s gentle spirit is universally understood.
There’s still time to reserve your spot in David’s new course, Medicinal Plants for Protecting Your Body, Mind & Spirit. Enroll today, and you’ll receive immediate access to the course, community page, and full audio recording of Session One — and be all set to experience Session Two on Wednesday, January 10. There’s really no escaping fear, you can’t pretend it doesn’t exist. So how do we live with that fear? How do we process it? Jack Kornfield, host of the Heart Wisdom Podcast, has a pretty radical solution. He suggests we acknowledge our fear, and perhaps even become friends with it:
“The first thing to understand is that we don’t want to take the anxiety of the culture, the terror and fear that the political world is fermenting, into our hearts. Part of the way that politics works is to scare the populace so that they will vote for you. The kind of messages of fear and terror that are out there, on all sides, can easily colonize our nervous system and take over our heart.”

A year ago today, my book Sun, Moon, and Earth: The Sacred Relationship of Yoga & Ayurveda was released by Lotus Press. I was elated to have finally completed a project that reflected over 20 years of study and service in the Vedic field. The book presents a number of bold themes that I feel are pertinent to bringing greater understanding to the yoga and Ayurveda traditions.

To Dr. Martin Luther King, the civil rights movement was part of a broader “revolution of values” that was “forcing America to face all its interrelated flaws.” As he put it, what we need is nothing less than “a restructuring of the very architecture of American society.”

For several years, The Shift Network has hosted Indigenous leaders from around the world and invited them to share their sacred knowledge, rituals, and practices to guide us in a way of living that is sustainable, healthy, and just. We’re thus delighted that the Global Indigenous Wisdom Library makes this “virtual council” of leaders and their wisdom available for everyone, everywhere for free. The Global Indigenous Wisdom Library is a collection of audio and video interviews featuring Indigenous leaders from around the world sharing prayers, sacred songs, prophecies, spiritual teachings, and pathways to healing, as well as concrete examples for birthing a new era — one in which all members of the human family are treated with respect, understanding, compassion, and justice. This sacred wisdom is important medicine for us all.
The production of The Global Indigenous Wisdom Library is a gift from The Shift Network, designed to inspire, inform, and involve you by highlighting the voices and important messages of Indigenous leaders from around the world. We want to give a heartfelt thanks to Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. (“Brother Phil”) for his partnership in helping create this Indigenous Wisdom collection. And we thank all the speakers who have contributed to this body of knowledge. To discover more, click here.

This book project will feature a collection of 20 stories written by Ugandan girls who aren’t letting poverty and inequality hold them back from creating a better future. In a world that has silenced girls for way too long and still views them as second-class citizens, these stories are needed more than ever. When girls have the opportunity to share their stories, they learn they are valuable; they discover they really do have something to say and get to play an essential role in economic development and eradicating poverty. Let's support Ugandan girls daring to dream!

This groundbreaking short documentary film will take you into the world of inner freedom and peace. We access that realm through rediscovering our connection to the spiritual dimension of the Earth, the spirit, and the world of the ancestors. Only a small number of indigenous tribes and rare individuals around the planet have retained their connection to this essential dimension.
The Avenya team has spent two years researching the effects of reawakening the human connection to the spiritual dimension of the Earth, and to the world of the ancestors. We have discovered that experiencing this world within us has a tremendous impact on our inner peace, health, sense of belonging, freedom, and fulfillment. It supports the development of the soul, and the contribution we are able to make in our communities as a result.
We very much look forward to sharing our important discoveries and tools with people around the world through this short documentary film. We feel this is the most important work that we can be engaged in at this moment in humanity’s development.

Action for Healthy Kids fights childhood obesity, undernourishment, and physical inactivity by helping schools become healthier places so kids can live healthier lives. We partner with a legion of dedicated volunteers — teachers, students, moms, dads, school wellness experts, and more — from within the ranks of our 120,000+ network to create healthful school changes.
Our grassroots efforts are supported by a collaboration of more than 75 organizations, corporations, and government agencies. Working together, we’re giving kids the keys to health and academic success by meeting them where they are — in the classroom, in the cafeteria, and on the playground — with fun physical activity and nutrition lessons that make it possible for them to eat nutritiously and play actively every day.
