Learn how mushrooms are a cost-effective, enjoyable, yet highly experiential superfood that can help ward off disease, keep your immune system strong, sharpen your cognitive skills, and, in some cases, heighten your consciousness and lead to a deeply meaningful spiritual experience.
Mushrooms — people tend to either love them or hate them. If you enjoy their nutty, earthy taste, you know of their versatility — perfect as a pizza topping, in a stir-fry, or scattered on a salad.
But what you may not know is that mushrooms have been used for thousands of years for their incredible health-promoting and medicinal properties. Going back to ancient Egypt, pharaohs forbade commoners from eating what they considered “the plant of immortality.”
There are thousands of edible mushroom species in the world and approximately 250+ of them have been identified as having healing properties. East Asian traditions and Indigenous cultures have always embraced mushrooms to treat all manner of ailments — and now Westerners are recognizing their nutritional and medicinal superpowers for the body, mind, and even the spirit.
Dr. Christopher Hobbs, internationally renowned author, herbalist, botanist, mycologist, research scientist, and faculty at the University of Massachusetts, believes that by incorporating mushrooms into our diets — fresh, cooked, or as dried adaptogens — we can help prevent and transform a myriad of debilitating issues.
In Professor Hobbs’ free online event, you’ll discover the scientifically supported benefits of making mushrooms a part of your daily regimen. He’ll tell you the ways that this fungi can strengthen and fine-tune your immune system to help stave off cancer, prevent heart disease, keep bones healthy, improve digestion, aid cognitive function, and much more.
He’ll discuss the incredible inroads being made by the scientific community on how psilocybin (aka hallucinogenic mushrooms) are benefitting those who suffer from depression, anxiety, addiction, and PTSD, among other psychological conditions.
Christopher will also touch on the benefits of mushrooms being incorporated into a more plant-based diet — giving you plenty of protein, fiber, and vitamins — while also being a very sustainable food source to grow. (It takes 3/4 of a gallon of water to cultivate one pound of mushrooms in comparison to the 1,800 gallons needed to provide for one pound of beef.)
You’ll also discover how to choose the very best among the good and bad mushroom products in the marketplace today. Mushrooms are a billion-dollar industry; over 900 million pounds are grown commercially each year — to be consumed in their natural form or added as foundational ingredients in power bars, coffee-type drinks, and adaptogenic tinctures and tonics.
Christopher will demonstrate how you can do the “starch test” at home to determine if what you’ve bought is a pure mushroom supplement or if it contains polysaccharide fillers. You’ll learn how to do this easy at-home test to make certain you’re getting what you’re paying for.
In this free one-hour workshop, you’ll discover:
- Ways to incorporate mushrooms on a dietary, medicinal, and transformational level
- The incredible immune-boosting properties and normalizing properties of mushrooms
- A process for determining the quality of your retail mushroom supplements
- How a greater consumption of mushrooms can lessen the threat of most cancers by up to 33%
- The ways mushrooms can literally help save the planet — they can filter drinkable water, clean polluted soil, act as a compostable replacement for styrofoam, and much more
- The ways in which fungi are essential for healthy growth and communication of all plants, including trees for the restoration of forests
Christopher, a fourth-generation herbalist and licensed acupuncturist, has a doctorate from UC Berkeley, having studied everything from evolutionary biology and phylogenetics to medicinal plant chemistry and ethnobotany.
Over the course of this 60 minutes, Christopher — with great passion and insight — will reveal the power of mushrooms as medicine — how they’re safe, with negligible side effects, and very inexpensive (and sometimes even free if you’re willing to hunt them yourself) to procure.
During this time with Christopher, you’ll be one of the first to hear about his 7-week course where he’ll be diving into five popular healing mushrooms (with an overview of other valuable species), how to shop or forage for them, how to dry and cook them, and the proper dosing to maximize their healing benefits.

“Thank you for creating this program!”
In the past I never thought I’d do well with this type of program, as I prefer a classroom setting. However, once I saw the PowerPoint presentation and text format, I realized how in-depth and good this program would be for me. I have enjoyed each chapter and even though some is overview, I still learned more than I knew before. I have encouraged others to take this program because of the incredible instructional background and development, and how easy this is to fit into my current busy lifestyle. I am excited to progress onward through this study and know this work will lead me to more of what I like in the herb profession. Thank you for creating this program!

“I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of herbal medicine.”
The Foundations of Herbalism course has been an amazing adventure for me. There is so much information packed in a very organized way that builds from one lesson to the next. There is an underlying theme throughout that helps one grasp concepts along the way. I especially loved the way that problems in each body system are addressed with well-defined herbal formulas that one can make. The information about the herbs themselves is invaluable, and I know I will be referring back to this course always. The course quizzes are a way to consolidate the information gained from each lesson, and at the end of each lesson one can continue with the additional projects listed, so the learning goes on! I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to gain a deeper understanding of herbal medicine.
