The effects of chronic stress and trauma don’t stop with your emotions they can reshape your nervous system and influence nearly every cell of your body.

Discover why your heart may play a major role in helping your nervous system recover from stress, and experience a simple HeartMath® practice for cultivating greater calm, resilience, and emotional balance.

Why do some life experiences leave imprints that never seem to fade?

The echoes of those experiences may show up in unexpected ways. Anxiety that seems to appear from nowhere. Brain fog that makes it hard to think clearly. Digestive problems, restless sleep, unexplained aches, emotional overwhelm, or exhaustion that never quite lifts.

What if these seemingly unrelated difficulties are all part of the same story?

According to neurologist Jorina Elbers, MD Medical Director at the HeartMath® Institute many of these challenges are signs that your nervous system adapted to prolonged stress exactly as it was designed to.

And once you recognize that such responses have a physiological purpose, a more hopeful path forward begins to appear.

This realization led to one of the most surprising discoveries in modern neuroscience: your heart offers one of the body’s most powerful healing paths to nervous system regulation and can help strengthen your sense of safety.

Join Dr. Jorina for an illuminating free online event to discover why chronic stress and trauma reshape not only the brain, but nearly every system of the body and learn how cultivating the connection and coherence between your heart and your brain may be one of the most effective links to recovery.

One of the liberating ideas you’ll encounter with Dr. Jorina is that healing can begin with a shift in perspective. Instead of asking, What’s wrong with me?... a better question is, What is my body trying to communicate to me?

Seen through the lens of nervous system regulation, anxious and hypervigilant responses that once felt confusing can begin to make sense replacing self-judgment with understanding and hope.

Drawing on her background in physiology and trauma recovery, Dr. Jorina translates complex neuroscience into compassionate, practical tools that help you understand what’s happening inside your body, respond to it differently, and recognize that meaningful change is possible.

Her evidence-based HeartMath® approach can empower you to move beyond simply coping with stress and begin helping your nervous system establish a healthier, more resilient baseline.

You’ll also discover that your heart plays a far greater role in your emotional and physiological wellbeing than you may realize. Through the science of heart-brain communication, Dr. Jorina will reveal how intentional shifts in your heart rhythm can send signals of safety throughout your system, helping you access greater stability even when life remains demanding.

She’ll also guide you through Heart-Focused Breathing® a simple HeartMath® practice designed to interrupt the stress response and bring your heart, brain, and nervous system into greater coherence.

It’s a practical technique you can begin using immediately whenever you feel anxious, overwhelmed, depleted, or disconnected from yourself.

In this hour-long free online event, you’ll:

  • Experience Heart-Focused Breathing®, a simple HeartMath® practice you can begin using immediately to interrupt the stress response and restore greater coherence
  • Learn why the heart is one of the fastest pathways for calming the nervous system and how the science of heart-brain communication plays a role in emotional balance
  • Discover how even small moments of coherence can create meaningful shifts in the way you think, feel, and respond to life’s challenges
  • Explore a practical HeartMath® framework for regulating emotions, accessing heart intelligence, and navigating life’s twists and turns with greater ease
  • Discover why resilience is a skill that can be strengthened through simple, evidence-based HeartMath® practices

When you attend, you’ll also be among the first to hear about Dr. Jorina’s upcoming 7-week live video course, where you’ll move beyond understanding why your nervous system responds the way it does to learning how to create lasting change.

Through a comprehensive HeartMath® framework, you’ll learn how to cultivate greater emotional self-regulation, heart intelligence, resilience, and more fulfilling relationships, creating a healthier foundation for every aspect of your life.

What People Are Saying About Jorina Elbers, MD...

“I felt completely transformed”
Dr. Elbers provides life-altering therapy. There's no other way to phrase it. I chose to see Dr. Elbers because of a multiyear struggle with debilitating anxiety in which I tried every form of talk therapy, allopathic medication, and naturopathy, as well other holistic medicines and treatments, to no avail. However, after just a handful of Brainspotting sessions, as well as HeartMath work, I felt completely transformed. I was able to move past emotional and psychological barriers that had prohibited me from enjoying life for years. Dr. Elbers' unique skill set and clinical knowledge, as well as her personable and empathetic approach, allowed me to feel completely safe while undergoing treatment. She is a remarkable healer in every sense of the word.

About Jorina Elbers, MD

EDIT

Dr. Jorina Elbers, MD, is a board-certified neurologist and Medical Director at HeartMath® Institute, where she helps translate the science of heartbrain connection and nervous system regulation into practical tools for everyday life. She has specialty training in pediatric stroke, and previously served as an assistant professor and practicing neurologist at Stanford University, where she combined clinical care with academic research.

Her clinical research has focused on the impact of chronic stress and trauma on the nervous system, exploring how dysregulation can contribute to a wide range of physical and emotional symptoms. This work led her to expand beyond conventional neurology and develop a more integrative, physiology-based approach to healing.

Dr. Jorina now runs a private practice in Santa Cruz, California, where she works with both adults and children experiencing stress-related and “medically unexplained” symptoms. Her work centers on helping individuals understand and regulate their nervous system, using evidence-based approaches that integrate heart rate variability, emotional awareness, and brainbody techniques.

Through her teaching, Dr. Jorina is known for making complex science accessible and practical. She brings a grounded, compassionate perspective to trauma helping people understand that their symptoms are not random, but reflect an intelligent nervous system that can be retrained toward greater balance, resilience, and wellbeing.
