“[Fred's] voice is soul-stirring.”
I’ve had the succinct pleasure of being in a couple of groups with Baba Fred, in which he guided me to find my breath. It sounds simple, I know. But sometimes life has a way of knocking it out of you, and you don’t realize it until someone gently says “breathe.” I think if Fred Johnson hadn’t taken the time to share his light with us, I would likely be in a corner holding my breath and thinking I was breathing — metaphorically speaking, of course. It took me over five years to hear Baba Fred sing and not respond with tears. His voice is soul-stirring. His abandon for letting his light shine without pretenses, and without the negatives of ego, is captivating and freeing at the same time. He’s a true exemplar of “get out of your own way!”
Sophia Neghesti
“Fred’s teachings will infuse you with joy…”
Fred Johnson tethers the voice to the spirit, the breath to the song, and the whole self to the driving life force that animates all beings. Fred has been my teacher, mentor, and friend for two decades. I have learned from him the gift of humility and strength, to be a connector among faiths, and to find and elevate the throughline that is the divine breath. Fred’s teachings will infuse you with joy and direction as a fully embodied human, rich with your soul’s purpose.
Rabbi Danielle Upbin

“... deeply profound sound practices reminded me of the power of my voice...”
Fred Johnson’s passionate, personable, and engaging perspective, presentation, and deeply profound sound practices reminded me of the power of my voice, rekindled my passion for sharing my story, and reopened up my guarded heart to the love, compassion, and healing of self, community, and universe that I knew were dwelling within me all along. I am beyond grateful to have learned traditional African practices I thought might be forever lost to me due to the tragic losses of slavery and the splintered legacies of systemic colonization.

About David Gibson

David Gibson is the founder and director of the Globe Sound Healing Institute in San Francisco (and online), offering individual classes and state-approved certificate programs in sound healing and sound therapy. He is the author of The Complete Guide to Sound Healing, and a producer of sound-healing music that is played in hospitals around the country.

He runs the Sound Therapy Center at the Institute (and online), which offers 15 types of sound-healing treatments. He has produced nine international sound-healing conferences and is the founder of the Sound Healing Research Foundation, designed to help bring sound healing into the mainstream for use in homes and hospitals.

David set up the Medical Sound Association, consisting of more than 600 doctors and sound therapists collaborating on ways to cure disease with sound, music, and vibration. Their website now has detailed treatment plans for a wide range of issues — including anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, cancer, drug addiction, and dementia.

David received a $100,000 grant to create the Sound Education Center by taking the Sound Healing Institute’s curriculum into two Montessori schools. Along with 24 sound-healing instructors, he created over 2,500 exercises for children at every age level. The website now has over 500 downloadable exercises.

About John Stuart Reid

Acoustics pioneer John Stuart Reid is on a mission to educate and inspire the world about the field of cymatics — the science of visible vibrations and sound. He asserts that sound is the foundation of almost all matter in the universe and was a potent force in the creation of life in the primordial oceans, thereby carrying the power to heal life.

In his lectures, John reveals groundbreaking information on the mechanisms that support Sound Therapy and Music Medicine, and how they can be applied to improve health naturally.

His CymaScope invention has forever changed the world’s perception of sound by giving us the ability to “see” sound and better understand this ubiquitous aspect of life. His cymatics research, which is elevating this important new field in scientific and medical arenas, includes a study on differentiating between the sounds emitted by healthy cells and cancer cells, published in the journal Water.

In John’s words, “The old adage ‘seeing is believing’ takes on an important new meaning — to see sound is to open a new window on our world, one that has been veiled for all time, until now.”

The Brothers are journeymen and guides for those seeking deeper connection and healing through the profound medium of voice, music, and song. They live in service to a bold vision: “Our wish is for each and every person to be radically expressed; a world where all genders, races, ethnicities, and human lives are fully connected to their voices, their stories, and their authentic selves.”

Through their programs, The Songwriter’s Journey and Your Big Voice, the Brothers Koren are helping thousands reclaim their voices (especially those who thought they couldn’t sing out) — and the stories and songs that have lain dormant — unearthing a diversity of big voices from all around the world. The Brothers have worked with Fortune 500 companies, presented at TEDx, are faculty at the Exponential Medicine conference, and are musical directors for the Association of Transformational Leaders™ SoCal.

About Christine Stevens

Author and music therapist Christine Stevens was adopted into a Native American family by Uncle Manny Eagle Elk Council Pipe Sandoval in a Making-of-a-Relative ceremony — after spending more than a decade singing Lakota prayer songs, undertaking Hanbleceya (“Crying for a Vision,” one of the seven Lakota Sacred Rites), and becoming a pipe carrier for Women’s Way Long Dance, founded by Connor Sauer.

With the permission of her elders and respect for the Red Road ways of music medicine, she has played the Native American-style flute for more than 25 years, as well as percussion for sound healing, honoring Nature in sacred sites, from a Sedona vortex to the Grand Tetons.

She honors the wisdom keepers who passed down these rhythms, and ensures that each practice is taught with cultural sensitivity and integrity.

Christine is the author of The Nature Sutras, Music Medicine, and The Healing Drum Kit, and the founder of UpBeat Drum Circles, which brings drumming and sound healing to organizations and events dedicated to uplifting humanity. As an advocate of music and wellness, her media appearances include NBC, PBS, Discovery Health, and Living Better TV.

Christine, who has worked with Fortune 500 companies, survivors of disasters, and refugee women, serves as a Musical Ambassador of Peace. She led the first drum circle training for peace in northern Iraq and toured Japan with a music medicine approach to the Native American-style flute.

The host of Global Rhythm Sangha Online, she teaches a variety of online training programs, including Awaken Your Rhythm, which has served hundreds of people from over 35 countries. Most recently, her pilot study, the Global Tele-Music Therapy program, published in Music and Medicine, helped reduce pain, discomfort, and stress with enduring effects during COVID-19.

Christine’s commitment to love, beauty, and harmony, and the reciprocity of offering music to Nature continues to guide her sound-healing practice and courses with The Shift Network.
